Before you call
What injured workers ask first
Do I have to tell my employer I'm hurt?
Yes, as soon as you can, and in writing if possible. Deadlines to report and to file differ by state, and missing one can cost you the claim, so call us even if you're unsure.
Can I choose my own doctor?
It depends on where you work and what the employer's insurer has set up. Ask us before you switch doctors, and keep going to every appointment.
What if my boss says it wasn't work-related?
The insurer decides whether to accept a claim, not your boss. If it's denied, you can usually ask for a hearing. Tell us what happened and bring any letters.
I was paid in cash, or hired through a contractor. Can I still file?
Often yes. How you were paid, or who handed you the check, doesn't by itself end a claim. We start by working out who the employer is and whether it carried insurance.
Will my immigration status come up?
In many states an injured worker can claim benefits whatever their status. We tell you how it works where you live, and we don't report anyone.
Do you speak Spanish?
Yes. Alondra and our front desk speak Spanish. When you meet Dalbir or Luella, Alondra or an interpreter joins, so nothing is lost.
Should I sign the insurer's settlement offer?
Not until someone has read it for you. A settlement can close your medical care for good. Send it to us and we'll tell you what it leaves out.
What does it cost to hire you?
No recovery, no fee. If you recover benefits, our fee is a share of them, and the rules where your claim is filed decide how much. Costs such as records and medical reports are explained in your fee agreement before you sign.
Still not sure? Call anyway.
A short call is often enough to tell you what to do this week.
No recovery, no fee. Costs are explained in your fee agreement before you sign.
